Nov 12: The Roanoke Women's Foundation (RWF) announced that Plenty! has been awarded $40,000 from the Foundation's large-impact grants program.
With this grant, Plenty! will be much better positioned to achieve a sustainable future with a business plan for the farm; and further a future where everyone in Floyd County has enough healthy food, and farmers and food workers make a living wage.
This grant supports the Plenty! mission by:
Plenty! nourishes community, growing food for and with hungry neighbors on its Farm, operating a Food Bank, delivering food to people without transportation through Portable Produce, and other food programs and school and community programs.
About the Roanoke Women's Foundation
The Roanoke Women’s Foundation (RWF) is a philanthropic organization established to provide women an avenue to become leaders in charitable giving by offering women a vehicle for collaborative giving in response to many community needs.
RWF grants provide support to arts and culture, health and human services, educational and environmental programs. Ginny Jarrett, a Founding Member, states, "The Roanoke Women's Foundation is about more than just money. It is about understanding philanthropy and gaining insight into the needs of the community."
RWF membership is made up of individual women. The Foundation is a democracy; each member casts an equal vote to decide annual large-impact grants. Plenty! thanks the women of the Foundation for the trust you place in us.
