WIC (supplemental nutrition program, Women, Infants and Children) provides screening and referrals to other health, welfare, and social service agencies, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, as well as supplemental nutritious foods. To be eligible for the WIC Program, applicants must meet some requirements. The Health Dept. holds a gardening program for its WIC participants.

Floyd County Emergency Assistance Program (FCEAP) offers a variety of temporary assistance for those who are 200% poverty income or below who have financial crises. Provides assistance with weekend food packs for school children, food, rent, mortgage, utility, heating fuel, medical, and gasoline to get to doctor or employment, and emergency motel shelter.

Meals on Wheels delivers food to those confined to their homes Monday through Friday.
The Friendship Cafe provides hot, well-balanced meals in a group setting on Tues and Thurs from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Located at Zion Lutheran Church, 635 Needmore Lane in Floyd.
Eligibility Criteria: 60 years of age and older. No fee for low income people. If over poverty level cost is on a sliding scale.
