Programs Are Fueled By Volunteers Who Are The Heart Of Plenty! Volunteers help neighbors, make a difference in our community, have fun and feel great. And all financial contributions to Plenty! are tax deductible.
PlentyFresh! Food Bank: The Food Bank is open Monday from 1 - 4 pm, Tuesday from 10 am - 1 pm, and Thursday from 4 - 6:30 pm. Volunteers stock shelves, greet people, and help bag their selections. From Jan - Apr the Food Bank averaged 156 visits a week.
Portable Produce: During the growing season (June through Thanksgiving), volunteers bag fresh produce grown on the Plenty! and neighboring farms, and by local gardeners, for individuals and families who can't come to the Food Bank. We pack 175 bags each week, ranging from produce for people living alone to large families. Volunteer drivers deliver the bagged food over our rough roads to bring healthy food and company. Volunteers also take Portable Produce door-to-door in an apartment complex where older adults and people with disabilities live.
Plenty! Farm: Work with the Farm Manager on tasks that change with the seasons. Plant, weed, water, or harvest for the Food Bank. Volunteers are sometimes needed to pick produce at other farms that contribute to the Food Bank.
Free Community Lunch: Join neighbors for lunch every Wednesday in summer, the fourth Wednesday of other months.
Adopt a Crop and Adopt a Chop: Help feed Floyd County and support local farms! With your donations, Plenty! partners with local farmers to grow crops to be distributed through the Food Bank and Portable Produce routes. This season we've added Adopt a Chop, partnering with farmers who are raising pigs for hungry neighbors. Let us know if you want your donation to support Adopt a Crop or Adopt a Chop. No donation is too small or too large!
